Removing The Blogger Navigation Bar

If you plan to use Blogger to set up a blog for your students, then it is probably a good idea to remove the navigation bar at the top of the page, to make sure that your learners don't inadvertently click through to any pages which may be inappropriate when they leave your site.

This quick tutorial will show you how to remove the Blogger navigation bar.

We are going to be editing the code of blog's HTML template, so you will need to back up your existing blog template and pages before we begin editing. (Important! Don't skip this step!)

If you don't know how to do this, then this article by Richard Byrne on the Free Technology For teachers site will show you how to do it.

How To Remove The Blogger Navigation Bar

Step 1

Open up the blogger dashboard, click on the design tab, and then click on the Edit HTML tab.

Step 2

Press the control+F keys to open up the search box in your browser, and run a search for the phrase "Blogger Template Style".

The search should turn up information about the Blogger Template Style you are using.

Step 3

Type the following line of code directly below it.

The Section of your blogger template that you are viewing should now look something like this:

Step 4

Click on the PREVIEW button to confirm that the Navigation Bar is no longer displaying.

If you are happy with the changes, press the SAVE TEMPLATES button.

If you are not happy with the changes, then press the CLEAR EDITS button to revert to the previous template.
